I helped my brother move into his apartment today.

Fourth-floor walkup. How nice. But we had good Thai food right afterwards. So it was okay. This should be the first short entry, because I don’t have much else to write about.

Quotes of the day:

“Mary had a little webcam” — a counselor

“Stop playing with my ball!” –many, many people at camp

“So, this idiot at the Genius Bar broke the LCD screen on my iPod, and Dad got so mad[…] so anyway, I ended up getting the same kind of iPod, a skin, and for some reason an iTrip.”–Amanda

Person of the day: Yesterday’s goes to Rosa, for stealing sheet music from someone. I don’t know, I was out of nominees. Today’s goes to Mom for making me guard the car while we walked stuff up four flights of stairs.

I’m happier today,

for reasons undefined.

Have you noticed that in this new blog, there are much longer entries? This entry is my requiem to WorldFreeWeb.

I got the WFW site in late August (23rd or 24th). It had been through many, many phases (the infamous Rhino the Wonder Rhino stories were left there). Unfortunately, the server just plain stopped responding around March, and all was lost. Sorry, Pranab. Automattic seems like a much more responsible company, and hopefully this site will carry me through to senior year. Hopefully. Rest in peace, admin (I never learned your name).

Quotes of the day:

“There are too many violinists. They should all jump off a cliff, kind of like lemmings”–Me

But since I’m not going to give myself any awards:

“If I was a lesbian I’d totally […]”–Kimberly? Maybe? I forget.

Website of the day  (The Stella Awards)

I’m going to a session where my dad is playing guitar, but if I’m lucky the resident drummer will let me play his kit. And I get to have Subway. For dinner! Subway is one of the only chains that I haven’t entirely given up hope for (Subway, Golden Krust, Famiglia, and that’s all I can think of right now). I recently had a breakfast sandwich from Dunkin’ Donuts. It sucked. I don’t care if I lived on it twice a week for lunch earlier in the year. Don’t buy their breakfast sandwiches or you’ll be sorry. But their doughnuts still rule. Starbucks sucks. The stuff is decent, but it’s so expensive that only rich, entitled fifteen-year-old girls from the Upper West Side are able to enjoy it. While I’m just talking about random crap, the Upper West Side is starting to fall apart. Screw you rich people. Okay, Dad’s more or less kicking me off. Bye.

Jane Monheit

with 4 comments

came to my camp today.if you don’t know who she is, no big deal. she’s not a bad singer at all, but no big deal. kind of like dionne warwick. at least, not as big a deal as the rest of the crowd made it out to be. it sounded like the beatles were performing (albeit on a one-off gig or something) at the end.

Quote of the day: “So, in my neighborhood, there are all these white guys…with turbans…that teach yoga…and, they’re nice, and stuff, but just–what are they?”–Laiya (commas are to indicate pauses)
Person of the day: Ross, for inviting his cousin to see Jane Monheit.

Song of the day: Hmmm, probably “Alberto Balsalm” [sic] by Aphex Twin.

working on the play was excruciatingly long. the rehearsal space sucks, but at least we’re back on stage tomorrow to practice. yay.

We took my computer back to the apple store today. it was a logic board problem, diagnosed from the start, but the people at apple must not have read the whole diagnosis, because all they did was put a new keyboard on (I’ve been wanting that too). it’s back, and i may blog more frequently now. that be all.

Life (this is an entry title you’re going to see a lot)

with one comment

We’re working hard on the play at camp, and our director says we’ll have a full run-through by Tuesday.

And the homie of the day award is now just person of the day (or man of the day, or woman of the day, depending on my mood). I’m not giving one out, because nobody’s earned it. Not to say it was a bad day. Camp’s fun, but it’s always cool to sleep until 10.

Quote of the day:

“First period free on Wednesdays!
It saves me from dying on those work-filled Tuesday nights. I can think, [‘]Well, get through all your work because you can sleep in your hallway tomorrow morning.[‘] Except that someone told me they shut down our hallway.”–moi, from my old blog. I just had to get off that Tripod site, the pop-up ads almost froze my computer. This was written some time in May when I still had school. I hope we have another first-period free or four next year (because I know we’re going to have at least five and probably more like seven frees a week next year. we only had three last year–boo). It’ll be interesting not being at the bottom of the school anymore. I’m looking ahead a lot, aren’t I?

Last night, I wrote some songs. They’re parodies of different genres. “Typical emo song” and “Typical dance song” are my favorites. I didn’t bother rhyming them. Disclaimer: Some of them are slightly modified from what I put in the notebook.

Typical Emo Song:

I cut myself last night, because fame and chicks make me sad, not to mention infinite royalty checks.

Typical Death-metal Song:

I EAT MUTILATED CORPSES BECAUSE I’M A STUPID VAT OF WHITE TRASH THAT THINKS IT’S COOL!

Typical punk song:

Let’s steal money from our parents to buy Clash T-shirts, torn jeans, rocks to throw at car windows, and spray paint to spray the anarchy symbol on government buildings.

Typical (vocal) dance song:

Yeah, ohh, yeah, ohh (repeat ad lib)

Typical krautrock song (excuse my poor German):

Es ist scon spät, der Über hax0r ist krieg. [there’s other stuff in this too. and haxor is an English word, sort of]

Site of the day: Ye Olde Englisc [sic] Wikipedia
That is all.

Hello world!

with 7 comments

I am up and running on WordPress.com! How good it feels to have nothing to do with Tripod anymore.

Quote of the day:

“KOREA!!”–if you have anything to do with me you should know who.

Person of the day: The headbanging viola player at the concert at camp today.

Website of the day: http://www.wordpress.com

I am currently blogging from Dad’s Windows 98, which is painfully slow. My mac should be fixed whenever it does. I am about to go pratice drums. now. leave comments.

Update: The first homie of the day award (this name is not set in stone, because I can’t find another word): Effie (see comments)
