Face it, security guards.

with 5 comments

You can’t arrest people for going upstairs before 7:45, get used to it. Nobody except you cares when we go upstairs. Not even the principal. Case in point: I was hiding from you when the principal himself came through my hallway. What did I get? “Oh, good morning.” “Good morning mister principal sir. Hey, I have to talk to you about the security guards you choose
. Do you choose them yourself? Or is it Corporate America frowning upon us kids that just want ten extra minutes to study for our Global midterm. It’s the corporate fascists, sir! I saw them with my own eyes!” “Uh, all I said was good morning…” “Yeah, I know.”

yes, I’m crazy.

I might owe an apology to some people

for my away message last night. You guys are a hell of a lot more entertaining than Comic Relief ’06. Here are the highlights as far as I can remember:

  • Robin Williams – hysterical
  • Whoopi Goldberg – decent
  • Billy Crystal – quiet
  • Ray Romano – not very funny
  • Rosie O’ Donnell – not especially funny, but consistent.
  • Tom Arnold – mildly funny
  • DL Hughley – pretty funny, but you couldn’t laugh directly after that Katrina footage.
  • Dane Cook – not great, but very profane
  • George Lopez – probably best in show
  • Sarah Silverman – spotty

They needed to get George Carlin to show up, that alone would have made it rule. And the old-time highlights were good too.

I love RateMyTeachers.

Question: Why are the questions asked on here so elementary? Shouldn’t the content of these questions be edited for relevance? ; Answer: bUT IT FOR ELEMENTARY SKOOLS TAHT DOESNT MAEK SENSE

I am extremely happy withthe first quarter report card. Four “A”s, an A- (in Global), and a B- in English (because of this dreadful, retarded book, but hell if I care, it’s running smoothly now). Gym, a pass/fail, was a pass; and for some reason under “Health” there was a blank space. Beats the C- I thought it would be.

Quotes of the day:

“If I said you had a nice body would you hold it against me?” – a pickup line that Stephen told me

“I’m guarranteed a 100 because I’m sitting in this row” – Kevin

“Don’t hurt yourself!” – Aje, referring to our favorite math teacher spazzing out during a passion-for-his-subject attack.

  • Me: We were flipping off the kids from the day care center!
  • Izzy: No, we were deciding which ones we wanted to take home!
  • Laiya: Looks can be deceiving. My sister is small and cute and she is the biggest bastard you will ever meet!

Good night. Or afternoon. I have work.

The Porn Watchers Union!

The rehearsal was awesome. Our output:

1. Theme song – an instrumental. About 1:20 long, if I remember correctly. You can hear some talking in the background at one point near the end (probably Ross’ brother who engineered this one), and I do a Brad Nowell-esque “Rah!” at the end.
2. People With Oversized Sunglasses should be Turned Into Flies – The classic track. I got to play guitar on this one, which was cool. The vocals were only double-tracked, but it’s still really cool. You should have been there, I almost blew a speaker and I woke up Ross’ dad who was recovering from hernia surgery. Must have been hella loud if it carried up the basement (with the door closed) and another flight of stairs. This one was 1:25, at most.
3. Tha Freestyle – My satirical rap. We used the drum machine and double-tracked in parts. This was done in the midst of a lot of deciding what we’d record next, and I thought we should just lay this one down quickly. Also hovers around a minute in length.
4. Trees Give Me Wood – The first of two “tree-love” songs. We didn’t bother putting bass on it. The longest song on the demo, at 2:17.
5. Dendrophiliac – The second. Ross laid it down solo, and when the time came for me to overdub drums, I couldn’t do it because he was so out of the pocket. Whatever, it’s a solo track now. 2:03?
6. Untitled – A minute-and-a-half instrumental. It was going to be a three-chord punk song called “I Don’t Care About Famous People” but a combination of its awesomeness and the fact that it came out a little slower than I had expected made us leave it an instrumental. Also, you can kind of hear me saying something at the beginning. Considering that Ross was calling loudly for a drum solo, I’m glad it didn’t pick up.

UPDATE 11/19: At some point during the last two weeks, we renamed #6 “Insulin”. Don’t laugh at us.

Dad came to pick me up, and as far as I know the only post-production is going to be a buzz-drone added to “People with Oversized…”

I’ll post download links once Ross puts the songs up.

Hmmm. After an uneventful first period free:
English: Discussion on The Chosen, which I must say is a very good book. Given the quality of The Joy Luck Club (Amy Tan sucks, really bad), my hopes weren’t high. The teacher is cool too, so that helps.
Hellth: I spelled it like that on purpose. We had a test today. She called it a “quiz”, but that’s a test in anyone else’s book. I’m sure that I got somewhere in the 70s, but I’m kind of resigned to the fact that I’m not going to do so well in that class. The teacher is one of those teachers that’s really cool – until you have to sit through a test. The good part is, there are seven vitamins in the B complex, and by popular consensus I chose the correct one for a question that I had no right to answer correctly.
Lunch: Pizza. Really good pizza.
Music: I entered the room about fifteen minutes early. The teacher was strangely excited to see me. What, I just came in to read the school newspaper because I was bored! There was nobody to talk to. I didn’t even know where people were. I thought I was missing some huge event. Whatever. Music class isn’t that fun.
Spanish: Nothing particularly interesting happened.
Science: We learned how to use school databases. I almost fell asleep.
Math: I got the test back with a miraculous 91. By this time, the week is setting in. I actually closed my eyes a few times. But it’s cool, because all we did was go over the test, and I know what I did wrong.

I waited for about an hour for the bus. I was feeling contemplative, so I got off a stop early and took the long way.

Dad’s friend’s wife has a birthday party. I hope somebody has the foresight to grill some burgers. Oh, and I remembered how cute their dog is.

Porn Watchers’ Union rehearses tomorrow. I packed up the drum kit already, but there’s only so much you can cram into a 22″ bass drum without breaking a head. I have the feeling some bits and pieces will be used from Ross’ brother’s kit.

I played soccer in gym (a 6-6 tie, I was goalie for about half the time)! Then I had lunch, and went to Jam Club. I cut my finger during a drum solo. I also got to play a full-size standup bass. Huge. Standup basses are cool.
